Emerge Australia’s Virtual Support Groups consist of 3 carer groups focusing on connecting carers with similar experiences, and 4 groups focusing on connecting people who live with ME/CFS or long COVID. Each group session will run once a month for 60 minutes with a trained facilitator, with the option to further connect online in the virtual discussion room which participants have access to after each session.
Our Virtual Community Support Groups aim to reduce social isolation, enable meaningful connections, improve wellbeing and livelihood, provide social connections and to build a safe environment for both people who live with ME/CFS or long COVID, and for their carers.
To ensure carers and people with ME/CFS and long COVID continue to be supported beyond the life of the program, a “volunteer community champions” pilot project is being developed. This will upskill community members to volunteer their time as group moderators. More information about this pilot project will be available in the new year.
