What are HealthPathways?
HealthPathways are clinical management and referral resources designed to be used during consultations with GPs. Each area in Australia has a Primary Health Network (PHN) that adapts a HealthPathway to make it relevant to their local health services.
In 2023, Emerge Australia partnered with the North Western Melbourne Primary Health Network to develop a HealthPathway for ME/CFS (Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome).
How do doctors access the ME/CFS HealthPathway?
Clinicians need to request access to their local HeathPathways site through their local Primary Health Network. Once access has been granted, they can then search for the ME/CFS HealthPathway. We have provided links to the HealthPathways gateways that we know have the North West Melbourne PHN ME/CFS HealthPathway or an adaptation of it. Other PHNs may have their own ME/CFS HealthPathway..
Where is the NWMPHN HealthPathway available?
The ME/CFS HealthPathway is available in the followin regions:
An adapted version is also available in the following regions:
What do you do if there isn't an ME/CFS HealthPathway available in your PHN?
If the ME/CFS HealthPathway is not available in your area, you are generally not able to access it from another Primary Health Network.
If you find that your local Primary Health Network does not have an ME/CFS HealthPathway, you can ask your Primary Health Network to create or adopt one from another region. Emerge Australia encourages doctors to recommend that their Primary Health Network adopt the North Western Melbourne Primary Health Network ME/CFS HealthPathway.
